Peri- implantitis is the inflammation of the tissues around the implant which is accompanied by bone loss and must be treated immediately because there is a high risk of implant loss

Symptoms :
- Red mucosa around the implant
- Existence fistula and pus discharge in some cases
- Bleeding in detecting periodontal probing
- Pain on percussion in chewing or clenching of teeth
- In x-ray examination, existane of bone loss in height around the implant
- Implant mobility at advanced stage
Etiology :
- Bacterial infection
- Engineering overcharging
- Implant-supported restorations wit problems
- Deficient oral hygiene
- Infection from adjacent natural teeth
- Smoking
- Excess of cement
Treatment:
- Removal of pathogens that cause peri- implantitis through radical abrasion and lasers
- Administration of antibiotic therapy
- Proper oral hygiene instructions
- Usage of interdental brushes
- Usage of oral chlorhexidine solution
- If the implant-supported restoration is not well implemented, it requires immediate replacement
- Possible surgical bone regeneration
- If there is no improvement in the above, then you must proceed to surgical removal of the implant, bone regeneration and implant placement new
