Many diseases of the oral cavity (teeth, surrounding tissues and bone) are not visible to the dentist, after a mucosal examination
The digital panoramic radiography in combination with the clinical examination of the mouth helps the dentist to determine:
• in patients presenting for dental care small cavities between teeth or caries under existing restorations, tooth fractures, apical cysts, periodontal disease
• in patients who are about to be operated on one or both jaws any abnormality maxillofacial
• in patients who, for some reason that may result from the history or the clinical examination, have a medical condition in the bones of the jaws
• in patients where a tooth is enclosed
• in young patients presenting for consideration regarding orthodontic problem
• in patients from the history and clinical examination has shown the possibility of a foreign body in the bones of the jaws or the soft tissues of the mouth region
• in patients with evidence of dysfunction of TMJ
• in patients who are to be placed implants
• in patients who need to place partial or full dentures or fixed prosthetic work
• in patients who have been injured in the face and need to be tested for possible jaw fracture
